Chapter 5
This chapter is the beginning of the great tribulation.
1And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
The book is in God’s hands. So, the beginning of the great tribulation are in God’s hands….as are the events that will occur.
2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.
4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
Thought… just like when the Earth was created God spoke forth all creation…finally saying in Genesis 1:26
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
He said “Let US make man in OUR image….” He was talking to Jesus. John 1:1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.2 The same was in the beginning with God.3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
So, Jesus is the Word of God… and the Word of God spoke everything in to existence… and the Word of God, Jesus is about to open the seals. The word of God… Jesus. Jesus the one who was here from the beginning… who was with God creating this world and everything here… came here and died for mankind to be saved…. and rose again from the dead… defeating death hell and the grave… this same Jesus is worthy to open the seals and begin judgment on the earth.
5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
A song of praise to Jesus for saving mankind all over the world. I used to wonder if I was going to do ok in heaven… I’m kind of flighty at times… and wondered if I would be able to spend all eternity standing around the throne praising God and Jesus… they’re worthy, but I know my flesh. That’s the point… like my flesh isn’t in to it because it’s flesh and thinks fleshly thoughts, but it’s not invited anyway… sooo …My spirit however is undoubtedly going to be so completely engulfed with the Lord’s presence… and God’s presence…. I won’t be able to stop myself from praising them. Also, we’re going to be ruling the new nations after the tribulation, and it’s all going to be wonderful. My flesh may not be willing, but my spirit is.
10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
11 And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
This is hyperbole…. used to denote an innumerable amount.
12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
Remember Genesis 1:26 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
Here we have all these creatures in heaven and earth…and under the earth and in the sea….all praising Jesus….The Alpha and Omega.
Wow, just wow…
If you are reading this by chance… I want you to stop trying to read x amount of chapters a day….and instead start reading sections that you can sit and digest spiritually….what I mean is focus more on learning to retain the word and to grow….and not to hit a quota.
