Galatians 6:1-18
6 1Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
This goes perfectly with the verses about not judging someone. We as Christians are not supposed to look on the sins of other Christians with a smug delight in their fall from grace, but instead we need to be there on our knees beside them, praying with them… helping them in every way we can to overcome their sin. If we have a true understanding of what hell is and we love our neighbors as ourselves, then our knee- jerk reaction toward someone who has gone astray would be to pray and help them get back. If instead you see a person stumble and your reaction is to smirk and celebrate their fall in your heart, you yourself have fallen.
2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
Once we become a born again Christian and crucify this old life with Jesus… then we abandon all we were and take on Christ Jesus… so by this alone we have no reason to think we are anything outside of Jesus. When we become a Christian, we view the works of the flesh differently. We fully realize that the works have no ability to save our souls. We help others because we are born again and now love our neighbor as ourselves. We produce good fruit because our tree is planted in Jesus.
4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
5 For every man shall bear his own burden.
6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
If we are in the flesh trying to do spiritual things, we will not get anywhere… any fruit that comes of this is of the Flesh…. but if in the spirit we live our life…even while in these fleshy bodies, we will reap eternal life. Working any religion is an act of the flesh… receiving Jesus is an act of the Spirit and is the only way to be saved.
9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Keep walking in the Spirit, don’t let anyone lure you to start religiously serving the flesh. I mean, don’t let anyone convince you that you must keep the Law to be saved.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
11 Ye see how large a letter I have written unto you with mine own hand.
12 As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
People who are in any religion or following the Law of Moses are convicted by your walk of faith by Grace. There are people who will become enraged if you disagree with them on their opinion. A good example of this is the recent pandemic. There were people who were so angry about having to wear a mask they would attack store owners, other people etc. There were also those who would attack people for not wearing a mask and create huge scenes in public over it. I’m not debating which is right, what I’m pointing out is both view points thought they were right and would get mad at anyone who challenged this opinion. I think it was because they wanted everyone to fall into line and not challenge their opinion and if you did, it was like calling them stupid to their face… at least it was in their mind. I believe this because they would often state statistics they read supporting their view point, often in a condescending way. This also plays out in religion. I remember when I became a Christian… I was witnessing to my cousin…. I just wanted him to hear the good news. A while later, as I was leaving, my Aunt stopped me at the door and very angrily told me that I was born a Catholic and was going to die a Catholic. I hadn‘t said a single word against the Catholic religion… but here she was defending it because me being born again was in direct disobedience to what she felt was my Catholic beliefs, it was like I was putting down all Catholics and calling them wrong by sharing my story of being born again.
13 For neither they themselves who are circumcised keep the law; but desire to have you circumcised, that they may glory in your flesh.
Picking up the story of my Aunt, she was not a devout Catholic. That I know of, she never even attended mass or confession…. and yet she was trying to get me to be a Catholic because my testimony for Jesus put her under conviction. Instead of this conviction leading her to repentance, she wanted me to stop my new beliefs and go back to being a Catholic, so she wouldn’t feel convicted anymore. By me going back, it would prove her point. Now here is the thing…. I wasn’t raised Catholic, I was raised Baptist. I was baptized as a baby in the Hospital because my parents thought I was dying, but during my childhood I was sent to the Baptist church every Sunday AND an even bigger thing, my Aunt eventually left the Catholic Church and became a Christian.
14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.
15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
Religion can’t save anyone, only Jesus can.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.
17 From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
18 Brethren, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.
I want to encourage you to keep writing! I love seeing blog posts that share my personal opinions. Excellent work!
