I’ve been seeing a lot on the Narrow Gate that leads to Heaven and how few there be that find it. I spent time praying this morning because of my thought pattern that there are so many people professing to know Jesus…and I wondered if only a handful of those will make it. Each time I think on that I hear that verse in my spirit, “Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?”-Luke 11:12
I prayed about it and I believe the Lord spoke to my Spirit…. God wants the people who live a life that honors the cross… meaning they live truly understanding the gift that God gave mankind when Jesus came here and laid down his life for our salvation. Not just a brief knowledge of salvation , but a full knowledge of the Grace of God that his own son made possible when he laid down his life for us so that we can be reconciled to God.
God seeks those who worship in Spirit and Truth.
John 4:22-24
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
God gave us his Only Begotten son….JESUS… knowing that Jesus was going to have to die on the cross to reconcile us to God and satisfy the debt our sin created. GOD’S ONLY BEGOTTEN SON…..DIED FOR MANKIND. And while so many of us parrot these words, we do so without considering the actual weight of this inside of our heart….we never truly grasp the work and commitment toward us that was involved in Jesus laying down his life.
God is looking for people whose life will honor his Son Jesus death on the cross. This is the narrow gate… Sure, you received Jesus… but does your life honor the sacrifice of Jesus dying for you on the Cross…. do you fully grasp that the cost of your salvation is the Son of God, Jesus? Does our walk honor the Sacrifice Jesus made.
Did your life change when you received Jesus? If you sin now, are you scrambling to repent and change, so you honor Jesus with your life.
Living a life that is honoring God and the Cross of Jesus …. the life of Jesus, it not WORKS… as some will say. These are not the same as trying to religiously not break the Law of Moses. Living a life that is honoring God and the Cross of Jesus is to understand that you have to have a heart that REJECTS sin… and actively tries to live a sinless life, not so you can be sin free enough to please God and be saved by this action….BUT because you honor and understand the tremendous gift that God gave us when he sent Jesus here to die for us. Our Christianity MUST reflect this truth, or we are not on that straight and narrow path. This is the difference…. ARE WE LIVING IN HONOR OF THE SACRIFICE JESUS MADE… and by honor I mean life changing understanding.
Are you going to back up your word…. When you say you love Jesus and are saved by Grace, does your life reflect that IN YOUR HEART… not before men… not in the way others see us… but in SPIRIT AND TRUTH… do you honor the sacrifice that Jesus made for you with your life.
If you honor the Cross…. then your sinful life will go there to die. In honor of Jesus are you actively and openly trying to stop living a life that is ungodly and sinful? You’ll fail, you’re human… but what you do with that fail is what defines your commitment to Jesus… and it’s MORE than asking God to forgive you… it’s putting that sin down on the cross and doing everything you can not to do it again… to honor God and the sacrifice of Jesus.
A PRAYER did not save you… repeating the sinner’s prayer did not save your soul…JESUS did… The sinner’s prayer was your invitation for Jesus to save you and your verbal commitment to Jesus. Your part is not over when you say AMEN at the end of the sinner’s prayer…. that was the beginning. You are not required to work for your salvation, because there is nothing you can do to fix the sinful nature of mankind that is in all of us… Jesus is the only cure for our sin… but you are required to honor your commitment to Jesus with your life. The place you make for God in your life will be reflected here. The seriousness of your commitment will be reflected here. If we aren’t seriously committed to God, then can we really expect that God will honor our commitment when we in our lackluster commitment to salvation don’t honor the sacrifice that Jesus made for us. We can’t work our way to Jesus… but we are expected to be committed.
If we are sincerely born again, your spirit will reflect that… and your flesh will be under the control of your spirit that is committed to Jesus.
Right now, I’m struggling with my language when I get around people who use bad language. I know it’s a problem, I repented for it and prayed for God to help me get it under control AKA crucify my flesh that falls into this sin. I want my mouth and my words to honor God… I want my testimony to be solid for Jesus…. and so, the instances where my tongue slips and I say something I shouldn’t need to die on the cross…. because Jesus is important, and I want my life to reflect that IMPORTANCE…. I want to honor Jesus. If right now where my spirit is in the Lord, I slip and say a word I shouldn’t… it doesn’t mean I’m not saved or have instantly become lost… God sees my heart. I’ll repent and then take spiritual measures to correct my flesh. But, if I slip and do nothing, then the next time I’m with people who cuss, I’ll fall into it a little more… the next thing I know I’m dealing with an unbridled tongue that is a reflection of my sinful nature, not God…. not Jesus. So then my mouth is no longer honoring God completely.
