Genesis Chapter 6

Genesis Chapter 6

1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,

That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

I’m starting out on this saying that I have no real teaching on this subject (The sons of God and daughters of men pairing up to create Giants…or alternatively, where giants came from). I know just what I briefly read on it a few moments ago….so, I’m not going to comment on it. There seems to be a couple of schools of thought about this, I just haven’t done my due diligence here and researched it myself…. it’s not one of those topics that I can briefly look in to…so for time, we will allow the Word to say what it says and take it at face value.

And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

11 The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Matthew 24:37-39 37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

The level of ungodliness that was present at Noah’s time was so profound, God’s solution was to wipe the slate clean…except for Noah, the only righteous man on earth. God saved him, but look at what he required of Noah. He had to believe that God was going to flood the earth (Judgment was coming), he had to build an enormous ark that took decades to build, and he had to build this ark during a drought while being laughed at by everyone except his family. Then Noah had to load the boat with food and supplies and every kind of animal in pairs of male and female. Noah had to obey God COMPLETELY in order to save himself and his family.
God made a very detailed plan of how he was going to save Noah and his family, from the size and shape of the boat down to how to tell when the waters had abated enough to come out of the ark.
God wasn’t interested in destroying Noah and his family because Noah was a righteous man…. so for Noah he made a way to escape the judgment. In the end times, God will remove the Christians before Judgment falls. There are a lot of Christian brothers and sisters who believe that God will rapture us out of here before the tribulation begins…. however, this isn’t supported in the word. Noah had to live alongside of evil and violent people in a world that had become exceedingly sinful, and the Lord saved him just as judgment fell. In the end times, in the Bible, the 7th trumpet sounds and there is time no longer…. meaning Judgment is about to fall. Following this blast of the last trumpet, all the Christians are removed and the bowl/vial judgments are poured out on the earth.

Revelation 10:6-7 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

Just like with Noah, God has given the Christians today a list of things they need to do to prepare for the coming judgment. Read Revelation 1-3 the admonishments to the 7 Churches. While these were actual Churches of the time when John was writing the book of Revelation, the letters are included because these same sins will be troubling the churches at the end times. We are also instructed in Matthew 24 and 25 about the end times. Pay attention to the parable of the 10 virgins, 5 were wise and 5 were foolish. The wise prepared for the coming night (tribulation) by getting oil for their lamps and watching for the bridegroom….5 didn’t get oil, they thought it was enough to have been invited… or perhaps they were not expecting the coming darkness. The 5 foolish virgins were unprepared. We need to be like the wise virgins… we need to stay filled with the Holy Spirit…praying and seeking God…. reading and learning his word, so we can rightly divide the word of truth and be able to discern the truth from a lie….because the father of lies is coming to deceive people and steal their souls. Jesus gave us his “ark” with the word of God…the Spirit of Truth…. the armor of Salvation….a close relationship with God. The time to cultivate a strong personal relationship with God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is NOW. Once the darkness comes, the spirit of deception will be profound. You’ll need a strong anchor in the truth in order to be able to know the truth from a lie.
Right now, there is so much deception going around that finding the truth is more complicated when you are looking for teachers. It’s gotten to the point that you need to have a strong foundation in the word in order to determine if a teacher is teaching the truth. Thank God for the Holy Spirit.. but, even following the voice of the Holy Spirit is a learned skill that you will have a very difficult time mastering once the night falls. Besides, Noah didn’t wait for the first drops of rain to fall before he began building the ark…. God said “a flood is coming” and that was enough for Noah… and God is saying to us now, “Tribulation is coming…. get oil for your Lamps”. Let that be enough to launch us into action.

13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.

15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.

18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons’ wives with thee.

19 And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.

20 Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.

21 And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.

22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
