Revelation 6: 12-17
Back when I first started reading Revelation, I thought that the seals are followed by the trumpets, which are followed by the bowls/vials. Now it seems clear to me that they are overlapping. Which I am going to explore now. While I do so, it will not be necessary for me to pin down anything… but instead to allow the word to say what it says and with the Lord’s leading through the Holy Ghost understanding will come. The model of 7 seals, 7 trumpets and 7 Bowls in sequential order was a common teaching promoted by Moody…but has since been challenged.
Keeping in mind that the 7 sealed scroll is the plan for all mankind that only the rightful owner can unseal and Jesus is the rightful owner having redeemed mankind with his blood…..it would be a natural conclusion that the seals are removed as time progresses, with the last seal happening at the end of the reclaiming of the earth.
12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
Matthew 25:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, …….
The wording of the verse clearly stated, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days….” So the events being talked about takes place after the tribulation and if you read Matthew 24 you will see this placement is correct… then because the events line up with the removing of the 6th seal, the 6th seal has to take place at the end of the tribulation.
13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
Matthew 24: 29…….and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
Matthew 24: 30-31 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Looking at the verse in Matthew 24: 30&31 the rapture of the church is also placed into the timeline of events…. at the end of the tribulation. Now I know many people quote the verse that says we are not appointed to wrath… and we aren’t… the wrath is only poured out on the unrighteous people who reject God. Perhaps the confusion comes when people mistake the judgment with wrath. At any rate, there will be a price to pay for refusing the truth about the timing of the rapture to remain comfortable in the mistaken belief that you will escape… and that price will be that you will be spiritually unprepared and in many cases because the pretribulation rapture believers feel they won’t be here, they don’t study Revelation and don’t feel they even need to because it’s “too mysterious” or “too complicated” or “doesn’t apply to them because they won’t be here” they will also be lacking knowledge on the events as they unfold. During this 7 years there will be one of the most profound movements of the Church in all time… people will come to Jesus like never before…as revival hits the earth. Now if all the Christians are removed…..how will that happen?
