Perilous Times

2 Timothy 3
1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
- The word PERILOUS is G5467 in Strongs…it means
“Fierce, Fierceness: “hard,”
(a) “hard to do or deal with, difficult, fierce,” is said of the Gadarene demoniacs, Mat 8:28;
(b) “hard to bear, painful, grievous,” said of the last times, 2Ti 3:1, RV, “grievous,” for AV, “perilous.”
See GRIEVOUS.”
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
- lovers of their own selves
Selfish, self love and self focused
( not caring about anyone but yourself) - covetous
lusting after money - boasters
an empty pretender, a boaster
(Social media is filled with people bragging about wealth they don’t actually have…. or bragging about a degree they don’t have…promoting a false narrative that makes you look better than you actually are) - proud
( From Strongs/Vines) “showing oneself above others” (huper, “over,” phainomai, “to appear”), though often denoting preeminent, is always used in the NT in the evil sense of “arrogant, disdainful, haughty;” it is rendered “haughty” - blasphemers
abusive, speaking evil - disobedient to parents
(there is a strong move where young adults are breaking all contact with their parents for trivial reasons like the parent not having the same political view, mostly liberals) - unthankful
- unholy
unholy, profane - without natural affection
love of kindred,” especially of parents for children and children for parents;
(unnaturally disconnected from normal parental bonds) - trucebreakers
(This is not just someone who breaks a truce, but someone who refuses to consider a truce)
- false accusers
an accuser of false accusers, slanderers. (From Strongs/Vines)” (cp. ACCUSE, B, No. 1), is used 34 times as a title of Satan, the Devil (the English word is derived from the Greek); once of Judas, Jhn 6:70, who, in his opposition of God, acted the part of the Devil. - incontinent
“incontinence, Incontinent: denotes “powerless, impotent;” in a moral sense, unrestrained, “without self-control,”
(We see this when people give themselves over to unrestrained sin) - fierce
unrestrained savage behavior
(We see this a lot lately where people go into a complete destructive rage and destroy an entire store or restaurant over something as simple and not getting food fast enough or someone charging for extra sauce….and even more tragically, stabbing someone in the heart because they asked you to leave) - despisers of those that are good
- traitors
“a betrayer, traitor;” - heady
precipitate, rash, reckless
No impulse control - highminded
lifted up with pride - lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God
(Putting worldly pleasures above following God) - Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof
(They have what seems like a godly form, but without the power of God… without salvation through Jesus. ) These are people who feel they are on the moral high ground. An example is the people who fight ICE to keep violent illegals from being deported to secure our own boarders. These are people who give a repeat offender a 5th chance because they came from a broken home.
6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
There is no way whatsoever to keep politics out of biblical discussions. The word of God doesn’t stop instructing us when we reach political things… nor should be avoid the topic for the sake of peace. The time is at hand, the days of being non-offensive in the face of debauchery and sin are over…. Christians, take off your kid gloves….put on the armor of God and confront the enemy, especially the political ones because that‘s the battleground of the end times.
In George Orwells book 1984 there is a quote that is going around that addresses the current behaviors of liberal women. “It was always the women, and above all the young ones, who were the most bigoted adherents of the Party, the swallowers of slogans, the amateur spies and nosers-out of unorthodoxy.”
Whenever I see that quote on social media I think of this verse about silly women laden with sins being led away by divers lust.
On the social media site TikTok you can find countless videos of liberal women spreading propaganda for the left. These women reframe abortion as healthcare, they put on the costumes from the TV series A Handmaids Tale and protest against being forced to have children for the government and other things they fear will happen like not being allowed to drive, vote, have a bank account or credit etc… all are scenarios that exist entirely in their imagination…no such laws is in the works. So they are fighting monsters that don’t even exist. These imaginary monsters were suggested to them by their political party to create fear in these women to radicalize them into becoming tools of propaganda and disruption for the liberal party. Silly women, laden with their sins are being led away by their own lustful desires and pursuits…. which they feel is being threatened by the conservative party. If you watch their videos you can clearly see the deterioration of their mental health. The people responsible for doing this to them…first turn their empathy into a suicidal form, then use it for their own agenda. Such was the case of Renee Goode who was radicalized by the left so profoundly she felt justified and righteous in trying to run over an ICE agent which lead to her losing her life when the ICE agent opened fire.
7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
- Jannes: Often thought to mean “he who seduces”.
- Jambres: Often derived from an Aramaic root meaning “he who opposes” or “rebellious”
