Instead of repeating the same information I wrote about in the other blogs, I’ll just comment on my personal thoughts and beliefs on the verses in Luke. They either have something to add that weren’t covered in the other books of the gospel or about things that stand out to me in Luke 21.
Luke Chapter 21:5-36
5 And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,
6 As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
- What Jesus says here is shocking. This temple was 36 acres in size, roughly 5 football fields of architectural splendor. To get an idea of it’s size and to understand the architectural accomplishment of this temple was check out this link.

8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
- The next appearance of Jesus will be him coming in the clouds just as he left when he ascended, there will be no doubt that it’s him. We won’t need to go to Jesus, he will gather us to him no matter where we are. Any man that claims to be Jesus who comes teaching, or as a prophet or showing signs and wonders is a false Jesus. Jesus came here already as a teacher and preforming miracles, his next return is to bring judgment. Following false Jesus also includes following people who claim to have a message from Jesus and presume to speak for him then go on and contradict the Word of God. There is a deadly trend going on where people give a prophetic word over another believer and essentially tells their future or give them instructions on what they should do in their personal life from some perceive impression they get from God. This is not scriptural. Jesus gave us his Word to govern our lives by and for instructions on how to live. The Holy Spirit will bring up the scriptures to guide us and instruct us from the word. The function of the Holy Spirit is also to give us wisdom on how to walk in and apply the knowledge he gives us in the word of God….and the Holy Spirit will bring us the word to expose the truth from a lie, so discernment also comes from knowing the Word of God and being filled with the Holy Spirit. Being filled with the Holy Spirit happens when we walk in fellowship with the Lord, we stay in the word and prayer. Not to earn salvation, because there is nothing man can do to earn it, but to be in obedience to Jesus who instructed us to take up our cross and follow him – Matthew 16:24-26. There are no shortcuts.
There was a time …many , many years ago, where I served God….I read the Word and went to Church…I was a youth leader and a Sunday School teacher…I was doing all the right things and trying to be a good Christian… not because I wanted to go to heaven when I died and spend time there in holiness, but because I didn’t want to end up in hell. I think we all start out like this, but as we get into the word and come to know Jesus, we are sanctified by his Word and begin to desire the holiness and to be in heaven…We develop a hunger and thirst for righteousness. This is the result of our heavenly investment where we lay up in storage our treasures in heaven… we stop toiling needlessly in worldly things and start learning about Godly things. Our desires shift, and it’s no longer about simply messing hell, but it’s about living in the presence of Jesus for all eternity….and building an intimate knowledge of who he is. John 1:1-5 Jesus is the Word…and he is light… this is the Oil for our Lamps. People who have no true knowledge in the Word, how one verse fits with the others to form a cohesive picture of our Savior are ripe for deception. In order to reject the false Jesus’s you have to really know the real one. The First Church of Follow Your Feelings is priming believers everywhere to fall for the antichrist deception. These “believers” don’t feel personal bible study is necessary…they call it works. They have their relationship with God in a passive part of their life, where that sermon on YouTube or at the church is all they need to fill some sort of spiritual obligation… kind of like leaving their jacket on a seat in the bus to heaven so they can go do other things while they wait until the bus leaves. They will be surprised to find that all these things, praying, reading and study of the word, fellowship with other believers etc was putting oil in their lamps… they’ll find themself in the time of deception with a lamp (salvation through Jesus) but no wick or oil to use that lamp to light their path (knowing Jesus through his Word). Jesus tells us…TAKE HEED THAT YOU BE NOT DECEIVED! If we can’t be bothered to TAKE HEED …by being careful to know the truth so we aren’t led into deception… then we will reap the harvest of our personal investment on this one. You won’t be able to get knowledge from fellow Christians… like when the 5 foolish virgins tried to get oil from the wise virgins…confusion comes with deception, you won’t be able to receive it because you’ll need knowledge to even do that. Noah didn’t start building the ark when the storm was upon him. - The biggest problem with lazy, luke warm Christianity is the illusion of time…time to read later, time to pray later…etc. We‘ve been living in a grace filled world where time is on our side and grace is there for us at all times. We aren’t having our faith challenged or facing persecution so we become procrastinators and God is no longer our number one priority. We say he is, but when you look at the truth, that we give our time to the things we love and that we will find the time to do those things even when we‘re pressed for time. It exposes where our actual commitment to God is. It exposes where our priorities really are. Least anyone read this and think I feel exempt from this, I’m convicted just writing it out… so, this truth exposes my own weakness.
9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
- “and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.” We’re going to see some things that are going to really unsettle us. All the other signs that Jesus gave are already out there happening, but not this part here.
- I’m not sure how accurate this number is but I read that we have 5 times more disasater now than we have on the past. Click here for the source–World Meteorological Organization
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.
NOTE: The following links are here because of the research they present and their passion for the body of believers who are facing persecution. I have not looked into their ministry beyond that so I can’t vouch for their doctrines, beliefs or ministeries…linking them is not an endorcement.
- According to Lifeway Research (click here for link) Christian persecution has reached extreme levels in several nations in an article written in Februrary of this year.

13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
- I think of the times when the scribes, Pharisees, and the Sadducee would ask Jesus these leading questions in an attempt to trip him up so they could find a valid reason to put him to death. Each time Jesus would answer them in such a way they couldn’t do anything to him and had to face their own spiritual ignorance and lack.
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
- On a low level this is happening now. Cutting off parents is becoming normalized and people who do this are being supported by their community. The majority (not all, some parents are abusive and need to be cut off) but the majority of these recent estrangements are not for abuse, but because of political point of view. Right after the election several leftist made videos encouraging other radicalized leftist to shun their conservative family for the Holidays. Again, the stage is being set.
17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.
- I cover this in other blogs but even since writing about it then, persecution has increased. Preachers are being arrested in countries that prior to these times supported the rights of Christians to publically declare their faith. As Islam and socialism move into a country the rights of Christians are taken away from them. I saw a man arrested in a video yesterday for speaking against mohammad…but had he spoken against Jesus, nothing would have happened to him. Podcast are being produced in America that frame Christianity as radical nationalism. Before they can call for our lives to be taken they start with this kind of propaganda. The stage is being set.
- When a group of people want to give themselves over to sin without guilt, the people who represent Godliness and morality become a problem for them. For some time now words of disapproval has been framed as “violence” against another person… for example, using the correct pronoun for a man is viewed as “violence” if the man wants people to view him as a female. Calling someone by their legal name at birth is viewed as “violence” if the person has changed their name after deciding to identify as a different gender or made up gender (like non-binary). People are threatened with arrest and have lost their jobs as a result of this so-called “violence”. This is the environment that lethal persecution grown in…eventually those who resist this perversion and call it out as sin will be viewed as public enemy number 1 and set up for elimination for the “greater good”.
18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
- Larger text because we need to get this, we stand on a promise even if we are put to death, we will not perish.
20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
This photo says it all.

24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
- “times of the Gentiles be fulfilled” The Gospel of the Kingdom reaches all nations and people
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
- Perplexity-G640 Strongs/Vines akin to A, No. 1, is translated “perplexity” in Luk 21:25 (lit., “at a loss for a way,” a, negative, poros, “a way, resource”), of the distress of nations, finding no solution to their embarrassments; papyri illustrations are in the sense of being at one’s wit’s end, at a loss how to proceed, without resources.
26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
- This is the result of gobal panic, not knowing what to do… coupled with the fact that NO ONE ELSE can help you because they’re going through the same thing. There is no where to run, no where to hide…and no one to save you EXCEPT JESUS…. but that isn’t the salvation most will be looking for.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
Jesus is:
- Coming in the clouds
- with power
- and great glory
If anyone points our a Jesus coming any other way, don’t follow him.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
- We won’t know the day or the hour, but we can know the season.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
