Psalm Chapter 1

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

  • Don’t walk in the counsel of the ungodly-Don’t follow the ways of the ungodly
  • Don’t stand in the way of sinners-Don’t take part in sinful behavior or linger around people who do.
  • Don’t sit in the seat of the scornful-Don’t observe the wicked things and mock God with a cynical, bitter attitude.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Holy heavenly father God, I come to you in the name of my lord and savior, Jesus. I thank you for saving my soul and giving me your Holy Spirit to correct me and guide me in all truth. Lately I’ve been wondering how we as Christians are to react when we encounter evil things on social media. When the comments that are being made are filled with hatred and evil, it’s so easy to get drawn in to behaving the same way as the evil ones who support and spew hatred. Help me not to lose sight of my purpose in you, that purpose being to act as an ambassador for Jesus and sharing your gospel of salvation with the lost. Help me and anyone else who happens to read this to hold on to the love in their hearts that wants to see the lost saved by grace and delivered from evil. Help us to resist the urge to return scorn for scorn. Let us love the ungodly like we were loved before we came to know Jesus. Give us guidance and wisdom in our words. Help us to resist the urge to engage in pointless debates that only serve to harden hearts. Help us to turn off the doom scrolling and put our time in reading the word and worshiping you. Restore a right spirit in us, correct the errors in our attitude and fill our hearts with love through the Holy Spirit. Forgive us for our sins and deliver us from temptation. Thank you father for being a present help in time of need. In the powerful, mighty name of Jesus. Amen
